win 7 client cant see win 2003/2008  shared folders
My network includes two servers - Win 2003 (DC) and Win 2008 - and a single Win 7 client. I have configured File Sharing on both servers but when I try to view the shared folders on either server I get an error: Windows cannot access \\SERVER Check the spelling etc .... Error Code 0x80070035 The network Path was not found. I can access either server by IP Address using Remote Desktop and the internet works from all the machines. Help appreciated - thanks in advance. Does it work if you access the server on another server? Please check the settings of NetBIOS. 1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel. 2. Under Network and Internet, click View network status and tasks. 3. Click Change adapter settings. 4. Right-click Local Area Connection, and then click Properties. 5. In the This connection uses the following items list, double-click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4), click Advanced, and then click the WINS tab. 6. Click Use NetBIOS setting from the DHCP server, and then click OK three times. If there is no DHCP server, please just check the option “Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP”. If it does not help, please temporary disable firewall on the Windows 7 computer. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. On the Win2008 server From explorer I can access shared folders on the Win2003 server from the Win2008 server. On the Win 7 Client: I have set NETBIOS setting to the default - Use NetBIOS settings from DHCP Server. If I click the server names for either server in Explorer I get the error Windows cannot access \\WinXXXXServer Check the spelling etc .... Error Code 0x80070035 The network Path was not found On the Win2003 Server If I click \\Win2003Server in Explorer I get the error \\Win2003Server is not accessible. You might not have permission to ....... There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request. Thanks for your response. DT

Which server is the DHCP and DNS server? What is the result after you run the command ipconfig/all? Can you access the server by entering [\\computername.domain.com]? You may need to set DNS suffix for all computers. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. From the result of IPconfig I found that the assigned DNS server is the computer itself. Also the DHCP is disabled by any reasons. You need to manually configure the DNS settings. Also you may check if the issue occurs after you replace the network adapter or upgrade the driver. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
